Before Nancy Pelosi rammed through the
health care law, she said, "We have to pass
the bill so that you can find out what is in
it." What have we found? Barack
Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi have, no
surprise, passed abortion funding in the new
health care bill.
Translation: even more of your tax
dollars will be funding abortion clinics
like Planned Parenthood's abortion
"mega-mart" in Houston, Texas.
Our battle to stop this pro-abortion
windfall continues at the state level. We
drafted a model law that, if passed by a
state, will prohibit all insurance plans in
that state's insurance exchanges from
covering abortions. AUL is on the front
lines of this new campaign, offering the
full assistance of our legal team to any
state that joins the fight against
taxpayer-funded abortions.

make
a
difference.
Each
of
us
has
a
talent
to
contribute,
if
only
for
an
hour
every
week
or
month.
How
can
you
help?
- Give generously to People of Life, the bishops' pro-life action campaign, or to your diocesan Respect Life Office or local programs of pastoral care.
- Pray privately and take part in programs of prayer.
- Join your parish Respect Life Committee. If there is none, ask the pastor if you can start one. Your diocesan Respect Life Office can help you.
- Take part in discussions about abortion and euthanasia at work or where acquaintances gather. Respectfully discuss these issues with colleagues.
- If you belong to a professional organization, advance pro-life positions.
- Volunteer to counsel women in a local pregnancy aid center; ask the diocesan Respect Life Office how you might assist the diocese's post-abortion ministry.
- Volunteer for a respite care program that helps families caring for seriously ill members at home; help the local hospice program.
- Contact your federal or state representatives on important pro-life legislation, especially when asked to do so by your diocese or parish—send that letter, make that phone call, sign that postcard.
