WARNING AGAINST BOOKS
Schools are distributing these books to children through the Scholastic Book Club. They are
devastating. Two particular books are, Conversations with God and Conversations with God for Teens, written by Neale D. Walsch. The books have been on the New York Times best sellers list for a number of weeks, and they make truth of the statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover."

The author purports to answer various questions asked by kids using the "voice of God". However, the "answers" that he gives are not Bible-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl poses the question "I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?" His reply is, "Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong."  Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply "I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is "'judge not lest ye be judged."

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. Is Jesus the Shepherd in our marriage? Do we know what He asks of us in our Sacrament of Marriage?  The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekends are Jan 23-25 at St. Malo near Estes Park, Feb 13-15 in Sterling, and Jun 12-14 at St. Malo.  A Weekend away for your marriage also makes a great Christmas or Valentine's Day gift!  Please register as early as possible.  For more information, call Walt & Nettie Kailey 303-469-2415, or visit www.northerncoloradome.org

Heart of the Plains Plaza Construction

The cemetery committee ordered the altar, heart stone, and pedestal for the Sacred Heart statue.  The altar is the same granite as the Rosary benches.  A tablet of rose granite will be engraved with the Sacred Heart and placed in the front center of the altar.  The pedestal for the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue will be constructed of granite that is shades of gray with rose running through it.  The committee hopes to have these set by the first anniversary of our dedication, November 2, 2008.

Stations of the Cross Benches Available

Fourteen benches will be placed around the perimeter of the cross-shaped plaza marking the Stations of the Cross.  The benches are three feet in length and will be the same granite as the pedestal:  a gray and rose blend called paradisio.  Each bench is available for donation as were the benches for the Rosary mysteries.  Due to increases in shipping costs, each bench is $1,284.00 which includes the inscription of the Station on one side and the donor’s intention on the other (your family’s name, the name of a deceased loved one, a special intention, etc.).  The price also includes delivery and setting fees.  These benches will set directly on the plaza which will be constructed of concrete.  The benches have been ordered, as well, and will be inscribed and delivered as they are donated.  If you are interested in reserving a favorite Station, please call Cindy Schellenberg at 849-5227 or Linda Epple at 849-5357.

Remember…. Tuesday weekday Mass and Adoration will be at 5:00 PM.  Mass begins at 5:00 PM and Adoration will start immediately following Mass for about 1 hour.  It is hoped that this might allow those who cannot attend morning Mass an opportunity for Daily Mass at a later time.

Healing Service & Praise Mass with Fr. Dan Norick on the first Saturday of every month, at 6:30 p.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 42nd & Federal Blvd., Denver. Music will be provided by Phil Perez and his praise band.. Call (303) 432-2694 with prayer requests if you are unable to attend..

Priests of the Archdiocese of Denver make a radical choice to follow Jesus' call to be His servant-leaders. Their lives of joyful sacrifice bring to the people of northern Colorado the message of Jesus Christ that: I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live! (John 11:25). A priest is empowered by Christ to overcome death, sin, and despair with the message of life, forgiveness, and hope that is the core of the Gospel

Can you Answer the Call? Become a Foster Parent! - “Receive a little child, and you receive me,” Jesus said.  There are approximately 9,000 children in out-of-home placement in Colorado.  Learn how you can answer the call and receive one or more of these children by becoming foster or adoptive parents.  Join the Archdiocese of Denver & Catholic charities for an informational meeting on how to become Foster Parents at the John Paul II Center on Wednesday, May 14th from 7-8 pm.  Contact Cheryl Garcia for more information at 303-742-0828 or cgarcia@ccdenver.org.

A DAY OF PRAYER AND PENANCE FOR LIFE:

Tuesday, January 22,2009

In all the dioceses of the United States of America, January 22 shall be observed as a particular day of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion, and of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life.

ACTION ALERT!

Parishioners across the Archdiocese of Denver will have the opportunity to join Catholics across the country in sending a message to Congress:

"Please oppose the "Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA) and retain laws against government funding and promotion of abortion." FOCA, the most radical and divisive pro-abortion bill ever introduced in Congress, would create a "fundamental right" to abortion that government could not limit but would have to support. FOCA would overturn many existing widely-supported policies, including laws protecting parental involvement and conscience rights and those preventing partial-birth abortion and taxpayer funding of abortion. Postcards to your U.S. Representative and two U.S. Senators will be available soon for your signature. Please plan to participate in this important event!

ACA - Our Lord has blessed us with countless gifts...our lives, our families, our friends, and our careers.  In thanksgiving, let us return a portion of these God-given blessings to those in need through a donation to the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal.  Your gift will enable our larger Church to continue spreading the message of faith, hope, and love across the expanse of our Archdiocese.  May you be blessed for your sacrifice.

Memorialize your loved ones and families by purchasing a brass plaque that can be engraved with your name(s) and/or a brief sentiment. These brass plaques will be mounted on the brick wall just outside the church entrance by the flower garden with the others that are already there. Please fill out an order form (found at the church entrance) and turn into Susie Bratrsovsky or Father Frank with your offering as soon as possible. Cost of each plaque is $100.00. All proceeds from the sale of the plaques will go to Holy Family Church. Please submit orders to Susie Bratrsovsky at 303-356-4308.
